In a world increasingly aware of the causes and consequences of climate change, Kingdom Maintenance is committed to providing a more balanced, greener environment. Recognising that environmental sustainability is a global concern, and that natural resources are limited, our working philosophy is to:
- establish and develop a knowledge of environmental sustainability in the everyday decision-making and behaviour of all of our employees.
- use timber and timber products that are sourced and produced from sustainable materials.
- maintain a working practice that reduces waste and conserves energy.
As an example of this positive approach, we were accredited with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification in June 2014.
Waste Management
Where timber waste is produced, KM recycles wherever possible. Waste residue is reclaimed for use in the factory heating system, and when this is not possible, waste timber and other construction wastes are transported to a waste disposal company who separates out the recyclable material for reuse by others and forwards the unusable waste to a landfill site. Alternatively, we dispose of timber waste through a recognised waste disposal specialist who either recycles or disposes of it in an eco-friendly way. Where construction waste is produced, we dispose of the waste through a recognised waste disposal specialist, who either recycles or disposes of it in an eco-friendly way. KM has a Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) licence.
